Good news - I might live to be six hundred years old! It's still not enough, but it's a lot better than what I was led to expect. Where have I got this news? Well, it's the story about the ten-year census of marine life which has just finished. There's these worms that live for six-hundred years. Worms! I can do better than that, surely. I mean, they're just worms. They don't know about healthy eating. They don't go to the doctor when there's something wrong with them. They're only worms. They can't live a lot longer than us in spite of that, surely? That wouldn't be fair. I mean, they're worms for crying out loud! There's also a school of fish the size of Manhattan, but come off it, they won't even have heard of Manhattan - Call me a cynic if you like, but I think it's probably just a coincidence.
What would you do if someone came up to you on the street and tried to sell you a laptop? Would you go and get six hundred and fifty pounds from the bank and give it to them? Would you then be surprised if you later found that you actually had hold of some potatoes and cardboard. and not a laptop at all? That's what happened to one couple, so they say. There's nothing to suggest that they had arranged to meet him, or had said that they were looking for one. It looks like he just went up to them at random. What did they think the deal was? Did they really think it was rightly his to sell, and he was selling it this way because he was eccentric? But who would pay that much for a stolen laptop, however nice it was? The scoundrel was wearing light blue jeans. That'll narrow it down, eh?
I cringed and winced more than a little as I read the headline "Bubbly Ocean on Enceladus Explains Plume Mystery". I could imagine it trying to explain it to me, and me getting all wound up and irritated and wanting to thump it, and not really taking any of it in. Can't I get a calm and sober ocean to explain it to me? It can be quite enthusiastic if it wants. But please, not bubbly. Don't get me wrong - I've nothing against bubbly in itself. In many situations bubbly is great. Bubbly can be simply delightful, and bring joy to a stony heart. But please, don't be bubbly when you're explaining a plume mystery to me. I'll be wanting to concentrate.
that's all from me for now
see you around
