The National Trust has made an amusing faux--pas. They're going to make available online an archive of thousands of photographs by George Bernard Shaw. Hahahaha! The fools! George Bernard Shaw was a writer, not a photographer! He wrote plays and that! With his beard and vegetarian, and he was he teetotal? Probably, let's not say anything about the eugenics, eh? Lot's of people used to think it was a good idea in the olden days. Like Adolf Hitler.. no, that's not what I was getting at.. anyway, lots of otherwise respectable people thought it was good then. Now they wouldn't. Because it's not poltically correct now. Yes, these days, thanks to Neil Kinnock, if you want to sterlise everyone you think is substandard to create a master-race of blonde aryan giants they say you're a bit of a Nazi! Anyway, that's not my point. My point is that he wasn't a photographer, was he? Oh yes, on the side, I'll grant you that. But that's not really the same thing, is it? If he once got drunk and played the spoons would he be up for the Mercury Music Prize? No, he wouldn't. I think you see my point.
Terry Gilliam has lost the backers to his film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. That's a shame. I'm aware that there may be some Gilliam-haters amongst the It Is What It Is readership, and it saddens me (not really, in principle, not in practice, I'm more buoyant than that), but I know that he's a divisive auteur, and there isn't a consensus about him even amongst you clever It Is What It Is readers. But I dig his shit, and I'm sorry that he's been thwarted once again. But struggle is generally part of the process for Terry, and as he says, "Don Quixote gives me something to look forward to, always. Maybe the most frightening thing is to actually make the film."
Bovver moths! Yobbo moths! ASBO moths! Alarming reports reach us that some moths are scaring bats with ultrasonic clicks. I've looked into this, and as far as I can tell the government is doing nothing about it! And the police - absolutely nothing! Bats are dying out, you know. Well, a lot of them. Fungus or something. But this can't help. Thet've probably got less resistance to it because of being bullied by those moths. Something ought to be done about it! But it won't. Those moths will get away scot free. What's going on there - have they got... connections?
I'm away now. Until Saturday. When there will be postponed wine night. Because I'm not here on Friday. I wouldn't count on getting anything here in the meantime, but you could keep an eye on my other platforms, on the left there, like my tumblr and audioboo in particular. Although I'm not promising anything there either.
