Dr. Tony Jewell? Jean-Luc Petard, more like! As in hoisted, cos he's... I'll start again. There's a lot of stupidity in the world. I should be used to it by now. So much so that perhaps I'm the real stupid one for still being surprised by it. Anyway, yesterday there was a news that the chief medical officer for Wales, Dr. Tony Jewell, has issued safety advice for kids and their mobile phones. He says they should text rather than talk, if possible. And use a hands-free kit, if possible. Keep conversations short. All to keep the nasty, dangerous phone away from diddums' head. Or not.
While research indicated that mobile phones did not cause health problems, more work was still to be done, said Dr Jewell. "It is always better to be safe than sorry," he said.and
There is no current evidence that the radio waves used by mobile phones to send and receive signals are linked to health problems, the chief medical officer said. But his advice for children is to limit their exposure in case any health concerns are found in the future. What am amazing precedent. Think of all the ways it could be applied elsewhere.
- Evidence suggests that water is wet, but we should put humidifiers in water tanks anyway, because it's always better to be safe than sorry.
- Evidence suggests that it's safe for children to drink milk, but we should only let them drink water, because it's always better to be safe than sorry.
- Evidence suggests that children's social development benefits from exposure to other children, but we should keep them in isolation, because it's always better to be safe than sorry.
- Dr. Tony Jewell is the chief medical officer for Wales, but we should ignore everything he says, because it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Is that okay with you? If not, don't call me about it. Or email, because email might give me stabbing pains in the little toe of my left foot. I have no reason to believe that to be the case, but... you can guess the rest.
that's all from me for now
see you around
